Karen Schubert grew up on Long Island, NY in a musical household. She currently holds positions with several area ensembles, including Principal Horn with the Delaware Symphony, the Kennett Symphony of Chester County, and the Academy of Vocal Arts Opera Orchestra. She is also a member of The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Opera Philadelphia, and the Fairmount Brass Quartet. She has performed with other area ensembles, such as The Pennsylvania Ballet, Philly Pops, Ocean City Pops, and the Reading Symphony. Karen is committed to teaching young players as well, as a coach for the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra’s Bravo Brass ensemble and adjunct instructor of horn at Cairn University. She also maintains a busy private teaching studio.
Karen is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where she was a student of Myron Bloom. Other teachers have included William Purvis and David Wakefield.
